Spanish L2 Development in a Short-Term Domestic Immersion Program

This exploratory study evaluated the impact of a Spanish second language (L2) domestic immersion (DI) program that was developed expediently at large university in United States response to widespread abroad (SA) closures due COVID-19. learners (n = 14) participated an intensive, six-week summer for total 96 contact hours over duration program. L2 development via conceptual replication Issa et al. (2020), which recently provided compelling evidence benefits short-term SA programs. gains were measured using acceptability judgment task, lexical decision and elicited imitation task. Results showed DI had significant some same areas as students, including subject-verb agreement scores on Implications creating maintaining programs current educational landscape are discussed.
